When artist and former film editor Marc Nolens was diagnosed with terminal cancer, he began to work on one last project: a leporello, or accordion-style book, that would gather the strands of his life’s work in graphic art. Over the following year, despite illness, he built the piece panel by panel, digitizing and recomposing earlier paintings, drawings, and designs into a seamless wall of images.

The work, spanning 28 panels, became both a retrospective and a renewal — a visual story unfolding as Marc’s final months did. In his last days, he entrusted the project to friends, asking only that it be carried forward.

The result is Lange Muur (Long Wall), an augmented reality installation stretching more than 34 meters. Realized after Marc’s passing, the work now lives on as both a testament to his vision and a shared effort by those close to him. Plans are underway to secure a permanent exhibition site.
